Can new audio tracks default to not monitor input?

Post by markand » Mon Mar 24, 2008 6:41 am

Hi, I'm pretty new to Live so this is probably a pretty basic question, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Is there any way to have new audio tracks default to not monitor input? I play guitar primarily and like to monitor direct. So currently, every time I create a new audio track, I have to switch from session view to arrangement view to switch it off, which is a pain and really slows things down.

I haven't been able to find a setting to control this anywhere, but since this seems so basic I figure it must be there somewhere!

Thanks!

Mark

I am not sure if it is possible to set a default for a new track, but there is a workaround. Once you have created a channel with the settings that you prefer (monitour off) you can make copies of that channel instead of creating a totally new track. Just press the "alt"-key and click on ther channel name, drag it to the right. Voila, you have a copy of your channel with all its settings.

I've been doing this via duplicate track, but typically this is after I've recorded something, so I then have to go in and delete the content.

So if there isn't a way to do this, I guess the best way to do this is always have a blank track set up the way I want and make copies of it.

Thanks!

I would like the default to be off, too. +1
