Any good compression guides?
Seems like compression is a valuable tool in any music creation. Unfortunately I know very little about it. I've searched around a bit and mostly what I find is articles. While there is alot of information in them, I'm more of a hands on kind of guy. Anyone have any good guides/tutorials on compression? Or even just helpful tips you can pass along?

Here is in few words about using compressor.
Compressor is one best tool never create for music, but if you use it in wrong way, best if you don't use it.
So there's many ways to use it I will explain just one, the most used, but if you understand it you can easy use for other one.
just and example compress bass drum.
never use preset as is.
the goal is the right regulation of attack Time (aT) release Time (rT) thr, and compression ration (cR).
The first thing to understand is which kinda sound U want:
for example punch nare!
search the right aT, and rT:
set cR to max value, the thr to -oo, then start from short aT, ok now begin to add more aT time, when you listen to the right click you find right value.
Then the same thing with rT.
ok now start with 3:1 cR and move thr to 0 db, the go down with knob, look at the bar of compression it should be rapid not always on.
well for further info go to www.digido.com
