Hi there, experiencing some strange and regular midi cut outs in live 7.03
Anywhere between 2 -30 minutes into playing a live set I just loose all midi contro... nothing responds, not even the midi input lights up.
My set up has changed drastically over the past few weeks: moved onto a mac (osx 10.5.2), new soundcard (since my old echo indigo doesn't fit into a MBP) & upgraded from live v6 to v7. (currently 7.03)
The midi loss seems to happen regardless of what interface i'm using (faderfoxes feeding into "uno" midi interface, or into novation nio interface, also my microkorg looses connection), so i'm satisfied it's not a problem with any of these.
I have installed a midi monitor, which I have run after Live has stopped receiving midi, and which still correctly identifies all the signals from all my devices. When I start live up again though, there is still no midi... i need to restart the mac to get it back.
Occasionally, the midi returns of it's own accord, and sometimes I have been able to "nudge" it back, by de-selecting the soundcard in preferences and then reselecting it... however, how and why this works is beyond me.
I can only assume that this is a problem in Live, since the midi monitor remains unaffected, even when live cuts out, but other than that i'm stuck... any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Peter

Do you still have Live 6 on your machine? Can you check if the same problem occurs with 6?
If you don't have 6 on your Mac, it might be worthwhile to download and install it to prove the problem. You can use any un-authorised (demo) version of Live to see if the problem persists.

Some more strange behavior.....
Have noticed that any assignments made to the "mute" of the return channels causes a small glitch, the midi signal is received and the channel very temporarily un-mutes but then a split second later for no apparent reason mutes itself again.
This made me try removing the midi cable which feeds the midi information back into my faderfoxes and so far no problems.
The unit has a feedback killer, which has always worked fine before.
Unfortunately the midi feedback, is quite crucial to the way I work.
