Buffer Adjustment Lag - OSX 10.5.2 + Duet

I am suddenly having difficulty adjusting the buffer with 7.03. Anyone else having this problem?

Too be more specific, the buffer size adjustment is not as robust as it was earlier. It takes several seconds to adjust and I cannot make precise adjustments because of the lag.

I do not have this problem in 7.02. Duet Users please respond.

did you install last airport update...?

everybody who install it(on tiger and leopard) seems to have problem but not from latency ,from audio glitches.

There has been an improvement in 7.0.3 that could be the cause of your experience:

Support for dynamic adjustment of the plug-in buffer size for Audio Units. For technical reasons, an Audio Unit device must be instantiated for a buffer size change.

What happens if you do not use that plugin, while adjusting the buffer size?

So I have to deactivate all of my AU plugs whenever I want to adjust my buffer in 7.03? Say it ain't so!!![/quote]We are looking at that, currently. But I was interested to know if it is the problem you experience.

Hopefully, you don't have to adjust the buffer size on a daily basis?

I do adjust my buffer alot. When sessions get large I need to have a larger buffer, when recording audio I use a much smaller buffer for latency reasons.

Hopefully the next release can address this.

i too have been having this issue. On my setup right now, ive got Kontakt running, and when i adjust Lives latency, 1. i don't get an immediate graphical update of the latency number, and 2. kontakt reloads it's currently used samples.
The Live latency change seems to take several seconds to actually happen.

further on the subject, when i adjust Live's latency with Kontakt running (2.20) my mouse/cursor actually disappears for several seconds, then i get the spinning beach ball for a further 5 seconds. During this time i cannot do anything in live.
In fact, the control of lives latency slider seems virtually broken. I cannot grab it and move it left or right by more than a few ms. Very odd behaviour.

Hi,

as a momentary workaround, please enter the buffer size with your computer keyboard after clicking it, if you need to adjust your latency a lot and you are using AUs in 7.0.3

Ok, so Live really cannot deal with a realtime latency change when any AU instrument is running. I just tried it with several other synths (rapture and filterscape VA, FM8).
If you have the synth panel open, it flashes on and off while Live tries to adjust the latency. It's really not good.

VST instruments work fine.

What is the technical problem that has come up that makes this not possible with AU's anymore? It used to work so well.

Frustrating.
