Did you plan to build your own controller ??

Discuss music production with Ableton Live.

what are you waiting for build your controller?

I'll never do that !! I don't need it !

I'd like to, but not enough control/feedback from Live (I don't want to code, I'm a musician!!!)

I'll do that because I'm hacking further inside Live API

I'll do that but I want to know more about the future of Live and cycling (or other partners) before coding, before digging more!

I could have done light feedback easily. I use a Doepfer CTM64 to send note messages. Add a MTC64 and you got light feedback.
The reasons why I don't do that :
-my machine is already done for a long time.
-Doepfer are a bit expensive.
-I prefer my monome.

but the Make controller looks like a crazy fun way to play with max. I gotta retire, not enough time.

I don't really speak English well. I just guess you are treating me like a fool, and that's really great from you.
I just wanted to help. Sorry, mister "I know everything, you are shit".
I thought it was a community here...

Thinking of it, you are right, it won't work without extra coding.

especially about clip triggering and the poor way provides by the actual Live version?

when will ableton give us more information about that ??

i have a lemur, does that count as building my own controller?

chill. the joke was not on you, it was just me making a short reply, and a shorter reply to a question.

I'm not planning on a controller but the Make controller looks like a great companion to max, something to play with.

not sure what you're asking for help with, guess I can look back, or not, you're kinda mean.
Sorry, mister "I know everything, you are shit".

excuse ME mister, you're the one starting in on the insults. think about it.
Thinking of it, you are right, it won't work without extra
coding.
not sure what you mean.

chill man, nobody's out to get you, we all get into bad moods, I take it you're in one.

Sorry for all this. It's really a pain to explain my thoughts in English, no kidding. I assure you I felt insulted, but I probably misunderstood, like I often do.
By extra coding I meant : as far as I know, midi clip feedback outputs a note only at the starting of the clip, so it would only flash the lights when it beggins or loops. So a pd or max or whatelse patch should run at the same time, for keeping notes on while playing.

nice words (except the misunderstanding ...but it is normal, it happens on international forum, no prob!)

Lemur? it counts for "building guys"! (for my opinion)
Lemur is a bit expensive for my musical budget, but one day... who knows..

the main subject here was: when ableton will give solutions about the feedback (i mean, the REAL feedback) from Live?
I guess, we won't have ANY informations for a long time :(

What feedback are you looking for? Hasn't Martin just hacked about every bit of info we can use for a controller?

Bjorn,
I meant "native feedback"
directly from live without any interfaces!

other feedback ideas that can be send on a request only or real-time:
- playing status (I know, it exists, but real infos like the little "clock" on each track)
- clip looped or not
etc

I just try to put further our desires... but indeed, Bjorn, a lot of things are already available :) (as Ableton Live 7.03 for instance :p )

i'd like to see that documentation ;)
As long as we are talking about designing ones own controllers, then full and easily readable instructions on how to multiplex and demux on a dev. board are lacking... There are walkthroughs on arduino.cc, but none are easily scalable.

yes. key word is "hacked", though. This isn't a high-bandwidth stream of easily parsable OSC. instead, it's obfuscated data, uncovered by techie users.

surely that's not an ideal situation, bjorn?
