I use one
no complaints here
the patchbay software takes a bit of getting
used too, but i think they are pretty cheap now(1616m)
really good sound quality
Dont expect to be able to use the Dsp effects in ableton though

i dont know anything about the native instrument one , sorry??

latency is pretty damn good on the 1616m
I sell Synth presets

I replaced RME with 1616m because of the sound but with new drivers RME is the best performer, might go back to it. Apogee would be another candidate if I was to buy something new.

I use the 1616 m with Live and it works perfectly.

RMAA Tests here :

Latency is very low, patchmix fx's are pretty good when you're used to them, audio routings are very flexible, and true, no way to use the FX inside Live but it's not really a problem since Live out is going thru the patchmix where effects can be used.

Awesome soundcard.

also switched from RME to 1616m, it's great, there's a great SOS article on patchmix, it's not that tough to master. and latency's low enough (tracking actual instruments, vox, etc.).

I've got two emu's, a 1616m pci for the laptop and an 1820m for the desktop and I've always been happy with them, they sound great and patchmix dsp is a great app. For those of you who haven't tried using the emu powerfx as a vst in live lately (version 6 and above) you may want to give it a go again, mine works fine in live 7.

Power FX do work in Live but delay compensation doesn't work with the power FX. Also Automating the effects give big crackles.

OK if your desparate !

The PowerFX are really useful for setting up effects 'outside' the DAW though - an easy way to set up a decent sounding vocal chain with reverb, EQ and heavy compression for a vocalist's cans. Also having two headphone outputs (one for you, one for vocalist) is really useful.
