I'm guessing %80 of the planet thinks like that.
actually I'd say it's closer to 100% - I think it's a rare enlightened soul who can rise above the emotional reactions of our animal selves 100% of the time. Even those of us who like to think of ourselves as intelligent, thinking people who don't react to base stimuli, there are unquestionably times when we do whether we realise it or not.

Having children really accelerates the process because your fear receptors go into overdrive - and it's almost completely instinctive. From the second they start moving about you become automatic in looking for potential danger and that extends to news bulletins about paedophiles and suddenly you find yourself feeling violent and extreme towards potential perpetrators, even if it's made up by Chris Morris. I'll kill that fucking Paedo house if it comes near my child.

What we might think on paper does not protect us from our own animal selves. at the end of the day we are animals, no matter how advanced we think we are.

And thats the problem, maybe we should go beyond the *we*...
We should start to discuss how we could integrate the perspective of living in a not so perfect society in ourselves views of the world.
Saying "people are like that" is a dead end. This has to mean something to the process we look at all the problems.
Paedophiles are a strong argument when you have kids, its strong when you want to have kids. Its weak when you can never have kids and dont plan to adopt kids...

or not?

My primary complaint about the questions can be illustrated with the question on abortion. (not starting an abortion debate hopefully) "abortion, when the woman's life is not threatened, should always be illegal". I agreed with the statement, which no doubt moved me to the left or middle. The problem is, they don't know that my reason for agreeing is that it is my opinion that the government has no business meddling in the medical field. Just the same way I don't feel they belong in the "marriage" business, straight or gay. But when asked if I felt that sex is to open in our society, I answered, yes. Why? Because what you do in the bedroom is your business, what you do in public is public business and I no more want to see anyone fucking in public than they want to see me doing it. 8O So, the questions don't take into account the reasoning behind the answers. My resoning is far more Libertarian than the test gives me credit for.

I'm sorry I disagreed with the statement on the survey I just read it wrong a minute ago. It is my feeling that the government should have no say.

Not unhappy, just didn't find it true. I'm farther to the right than it says I am. And much farther to the libertarian side. The federal government should supply 2 things: 1) roads, 2) a DEFENSIVE military. The rest of the stuff should be delegated to the states and the individual.

sweet.
And I'd like to add that the federal government should also supply a 'cuddles' program for the elderly living in solitude. I think every american has surely earned the right to have their pets fur groomed, styled & dyed with the colours of the flag. The feds ought to sort that out too.

there was no option for that stuff in the test. Man that test was bullshit.
