select clips with midi?

Post by phantom » Sat Apr 05, 2008 12:57 am

Hi guys,

Need some advice here.

Is there a way to scroll my way through clips? with midi? Horizontally/Vertically? With a knob? Maybe one rotary knob for up/down, the other for left right. I don't like to touch the laptop to select and launch clips during a dj set.

I came as far as setting up the my pads as launch buttons of a clip, but that's not really a scroll function.

Thanks in advance. Go check out some sets if you like at www.phantombynight.com (free downloads)

Grtz Tom

Ps: i now use the UC-33e (and/or Korg microKontrol + PadKontrol)

enter midi learn mode (ctrl-m)

look at the right of the screen, just above the master fader, just below the scene launch button.

toggle ctrl-m a few times, you'll see a few round buttons and a square one toggle on and off. open the help box in the lower left corner, hover the mouse over them and read up. you can do what you want with one of those.

also notice the boxes that appear and disappear at the bottom of the tracks, read up on those, very handy to use with the round buttons.

aww neat. any way to scroll left and right between tracks with midi? I know the arrow keys do it but it can be controlling something else at that point in time

why yes there is. Look into mackie control emulation - the arrow keys on a mackie control can be used for this kind of movement.
