Post by vilu » Fri Apr 04, 2008 1:56 pm

Im wondering how to recreate sounds similar to the synth sounds calvin harris made on his I created disco album? Using massive and or the ableton instruments?

yeah cant believe that stupidity,, sounds incredible to me. Or he just took advantage of the situation he didnt have shit done and blames it all on heathrow. I guess its a stupid question anyway but I would love to know what it its that characterizes that kind of sound.

most of the sounds are really really really really simple.

Operator/analog should be the easiest way to do this.

Many of the lead/arp sounds are very resonance-based, so I'd use the Analog synth, since the filter on that is the yummy.

Basses sound pwm-y, so Analog would be good for that too, actually.

oh, and "that" bassline from Acceptable in the 80s uses a formant filter. There's one of those in Analog, too.

oi vilu, do you have Ableton Analog? I did a small reconstruction of one of the tracks using that.

How could someone be so careless and stupid? And beyond every else's comments on this guy, who in their right mind puts their laptop UNDER the airplane in baggage! ? Especially a laptop containing the only unbacked up copy of their entire album! ?
