Well, I have just been cruising this place ever since I bought 6, but never actually posted for just this reason. Every time I wanted to ask a question, I thought to myself - "Hmm, wonder if it is in the manual, or been covered somewhere else in the forum." Guess what - it always was. Search is your friend, especially on gear reviews or problems.

Good luck man, there are some wicked talented people here and they will definately help you and inspire you. Yeah some are pricks, but I like em all - they keep me rolling most of the time and provide comic relief when I am feeling stressed, esp. when they get started on each other.

Peace.

stupid fucking n00bs are ruining this forum!!!!! somebody ban this whiny fuck.

^that's a joke, you'll get the gist of it all.

I promise that a well worded, short question will get you answers, if you've tried that, feel free to PM me, but only if you're post drops off the first page. I don't know it all but read/post too much and could at least maybe point you in the right direction.

btw I've never read the manual. type this into google:
swollen testes site:www.ableton.com
will get google to search the forum for all posts on swollen sacks.

open the .pdf to search the manual (that's the extent of my reading).

or when you see a word on the screen and are using FireFox, right click on it and you'll see an option to search for that word on google. (thanks for that one forge.)

wikipedia is also great for audio questions/answers.

never take these assholes seriously, they go for the jugular at the first sign of weakness, in reality they're some pasty skinned dorks hiding behind a computer in their mom's basement listening to Daft Punk with a Boba Fet action figure shoved up their ass.

and btw some of you other forum whores can step it up a bit and answer from freacking questions from time to time.

Sorry but there is nothing really rude against you in that thread, in fact I think you acted more like an asshole than them.

The other prick told me to read a manual. I mean, how fucking rude. I thought this 'community' Forum was to share ideas, music and HELP each other, not make new users feel like idiots for asking simple questions. I'm starting to think i should have bought different software all together.

I don't moderate these forums. I do moderate over at the NI forums, though. From the sounds of it he downloaded Battery 1. Now, there isn't a legal version of that available for download;

a) the only downloadable version was the demo, and
b) the Battery 1 demo hasn't been available since 2004, when Battery 2 came out.

He says he was downloading free software; Battery's never been free.

I don't condone software theft in any circumstance, and I definitely don't condone it when it deals with a company I'm in some way associated with. I've gotten to know most of the people over at NI over the last few years; I consider them friends. I don't like people ripping off friends of mine...

Lecture over.

Reposting this. and yeah buddy you're a dumb ass! Look, most of us at some point played the bit torrent game and downloaded VSTs etc. but we either grew up, or at the very least had the courtesy to avoid blabbing about it on COMPANY FORUMS!

Admit you're a twat, and get on with your life, whining will just make you look even more like a drama queen...
"BAAAW BAAAW!! I downloaded [k] software, and the nasty company forum for an audio software developer made my but hurt! WAAAAH!"

kosher VST, what a load of bullshit!

As far as the RTFM thing goes, the best thing two things I ever did in regards to Ableton were:

1) Pick a song to emulate that was WAY over my head - lots of bashing the head against the wall, but LOTS of learning to be had

2) LTFMITS - As in "Leave The F***ing Manual In The Shitter" - seriously, I've learned more in three months on the crapper reading that manual than I did tooling aimlessly with the program for a year-and-a-half

And yeah, the Live Forum community are a bunch of ball-busters - I love it here.

Nope, just if I do something stupid, I'm sure you fuckers will call me on it.
Ethically I'm not for kracked software, economically, and to gain knowledge I understand the reasons for using it that make some sense though.

Logically I would never try to get help installing kracked software on a company run forum. It's just not very smart, and what's even more mind blowing is to continue to whine about people calling you on it?

I hold everybody to the same standards, period, but it also takes me about ten seconds to forget our last conversation and get on with things. A noob can school me as easily as a forum rat, so why have a hierarchy?

get over yourself. people asking really, really basic stuff is tiresome, most people want to see that you've tried to sort things out yourself before asking for help, at least enough so that you'll understand whatever answer you get. i'm not talking about you specifically, but some of the questions lately have almost been at the "how do i plug my computer in" level. it's not like live doesn't have tutorials, a manual, etc.

said Mr. Helpful. holy fuck, do you know how many times I've typed the phrase "options->preferences"? put up or shut up.

there's no harm in asking ANY question and no harm in any reply to a question. whine about either, you'll lose your balls. if you keep being an ass, there's the troll blocker. no fucking rules, what's the big mystery?

none of us were born knowing what a midi cable is for (machinate aside) and answering questions is a great way to learn.
