MPD 24 Failure

Post by greg0ryk » Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:30 pm

My MPD 24 was fried after the 1.09 upgrade too. They said it was hardware, and I am going to have to send in in for repair. However, seeing as I will be out the shipping costs to send back a product that was rendered useless after an update that AKAI themselves created. Seems like poor customer concern.

Have any of you Tried our MPD ACCESS Program?
That will easily get the Transport controls on your MPD24 to send out Notes which you can map to whatever you want in Live?

Weird, we've had lots of registrations since the forum was put back up. What web browser are you using? also i believe the capcha is case sensitive. Try again, and if its no go then PM me with your email and ill send it over to you...

on live7.0.3, osx 10.5.1

When you do this, the mpd needs to be connected with midi?or only usb?
I am on mac 10.4.10
Thanks
USB only
sweet thanks... i can cut bomes midi translator out of like 95% of my sets now. now if only ableton would patch in key assignments to midi notes/cc life would be grand!! hehe

(key assignments meaning enter, delete, space bar, hot key commands)

the new (live 7.03) mpd24 support is great - except it doesn't map the transport buttons. you have to manually map them for each live set (or in the template i guess).

Hi,

I didn't check the forum for some days so this may be redundant...

here is a way to update the mpd 24 to OS 1.09 with a OSX 10.5 mactel should you have the same problem some of us had (update via vyzex -> dead mpd24) :

1. get SysEx Librarian (free) : http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/
2. get MPD24 OS 1.09 (mpd24_v1_09.syx) : http://www.akaipro.com/contentmgr/showd ... /1122/tt/5
3. unplug MPD24’s USB cable and reconnect it while holding down three of the five front panel transport bar buttons at the same time : <<, STOP, & REC.
4. MPD24 will now power-up displaying the following on its front panel LCD display : Upgrade ERASE OK? -> PRESS ENTER on the MPD
5. MPD24 will now inform you it is ready to proceed with the update by displaying the following on its front panel display : Upgrade 00 SEND SYSEX
6. launch SysEx Librarian
7. choose MPD24 as destination (I chose the first instance in the list)
8. add mpd24_v1_09.syx
9. play mpd24_v1_09.syx
10. wait till MPD24 finish receiving its new OS...
11. done.

Hope this helps
cheers
