why do samples play really loud in impulse/drum rack

this has been bugging me for ages, you import a sample in impulse and it plays really loud compared to the original sample.

I have either turn down the velocity or the master volume.

Yet in other samplers I can have the note at maximum velocity (127) and sounds like it should do, also noticed the default velocity is set to 70%.

prob really simple thing

ps been using live since v3 so not a compete novice

Its mostly due to the velocity response.

To get a sample that is 0dB to sound like 0dB in a Simpler, the volume needs to be at -12dB and velocity response at around 50%.

I personally use 70%, so I can go louder if needed.
