crossfade on the same track

I waste too many time to try to paste two clips together without cliping!!!
I know there are softwares which are able to automatically crossfade two clips. May be you have some good advices?

yes, that would be nice. Acid does this very well, but I haven't found this in Ableton. As far as I know, you have to use two tracks.

It would also be nice to have the ability to choose a curve for an envelope between two points - instead of doing it by hand.

not availble in ableton. though by the sounds of it, its comming in live 8.
