faster start ..
definitely Ableton Live is the tool i wanna use for the rest of my music creation time, so this could look a not very interest request but i find live is getting so close to perfection that for me the time we have to wait , 40 sec, is to much for an aplication like this. Just recently i came to conclusion that Live is really the best thing out there , i was reading this new features of cubase sx3 and sonar4 , and .., start ask myself , why .., is all inLive , everything you need. It´s perfect, so any little thing i think it can get better i will tell, this time was this one, ..just think , Live loading in 5 sec, like reason, perfect., ..and the time it takes to load a set too, more fast..it will be great. other thing is the cpu usage, but i guess that it´s a problem of every piece of software..but if it can get better. i just compare this version whit the Live v1, ..and v1 was so poor, ..i can´t understant why i like Live right in that version 1, .. this last version is a very good one.
Yo it loads in around 5 seconds on my powerbook, and if you read the Live Performance Test thread you will see my powerbook is somewhere in the middle regarding performance. So I imagine it loads faster for most users...just think , Live loading in 5 sec,
I think you need to look at optimizing your computer for audio.

I think it takes about 5-10 seconds to load on my Powerbook, but my default template is really basic.
Do you have a template set? If so, does it load any AUs or VSTis by default? That may explain the 40 seconds.
Another thing: do you have Virtual Guitarist? There are about 10,000 files in that VSTi. Live used to take about a minute to boot before I moved VG out of the VST directory (after reading a tip about it on this board - thanks to whoever posted it!).
