Height zoom in, or at least scale change options

Post by retrend » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:11 pm

I would like there to be a way to zoom in on the height of channels. I DJ and set all my mp3s to be around 87 db, and this shows them as being very very small, and there is no way to fix this. Sure I can make channels bigger, but it doesnt take away from the fact that loads of my screen is wasted.

So yeh, a height control, where u can zoom in on the height of each channel, or even change the scale of it so that 1-80db is maybe equal weight to 80-100db or woteva.

I am more accustomed to seeing decibel values based on 0 = max.. (i.e. negative values)

if you are intentionally setting your digital files at very low levels, the question is why?

general consensus would surely be towards the opposite (?)

anyway, I'd think it would all wash out if you increased the clip gains to get the waveform displays up... and pulled down the track faders

I reckon you are talking about "-87db", right?

uhm, yeah. Turn down your master instead.

Well Im running all my tunes through mp3gain to get them to -87db so that with 3 tunes playing at once it works out at 96db.

I suppose I could just up the volumes but I was quite set on having my mp3s at this volume.

may I ask why? This approach does not seem overly rooted in accepted audio theory, as it were.

I was trying to prevent my tracks from clipping basically. But you are right, I dont know much about audio theory

I still think a scale change should be possible tho.

hehehe tarekith, seems like im kinda outvoted on this being at all useful

I guess Ill just do that, I suppose with not having to warp stuff live I can just sack the bottom bar and have my 3 channels taking up the full height of the screen. Ill switch to fullscreen as well when playing out, that gives me another bit of room
