Ping Pong Delay & L/R audio signal have opposite phase

Post by mais » Sun Apr 13, 2008 7:34 am

I not sure this is right behavior:

on any mono signal, use the utility to invert the phase on only the
left or right. the ping pong delay then doesnt output any wet signal.

what i think is happening is this:

the left and right signal coming into ping pong is added together
to a mono signal which then is first echoed to the left, then the
right. ...at least this would explain why there is no sound, as left
and right would cancel each other out.

another way of thinking how a ping pong delay should work:

the left input is echoed to the left and right to the right.

hmm...come to thing about it, maybe the first way of implementing
it is the right... but then again using signals with opposite phase
fx stuff, you might loose some of the signal...

would be nice with a button on the ping pong to switch between these two
ways of implementing ping pong heh

any comments on this? ...it probably isnt a bug now that i think about it,
but its interesting subject.. at least if you are into details :)

why are you inverting the phase?

well i was just playing around, and i thought it sounded really cool on my signal when i inverted just the one phase, then i tried it with a ping pong, and thats when i stumbled upon this issue.

is not a big big deal i mean, but as a nerd, i like to dig into stuff like this :)
