also - Israel absolutely has to recognise all the refugees right to return. So when this fairytale new government takes control Machines, that's got to be high on their agenda if there is to be ANY peace, ever. Historically they are against that, any piddling deal offers that have been made over the years consistently disallow displaced palestinians to return to the land.
1: stick the boot in, make it miserable to stay, don't allow them home after they leave. (or coerce them to work in another lucrative colony RE:irish famine)
2: repeat for a generation or two.
3: It gets easier with time & more illegal settlers on the payroll acting with impunity.
4: ?????

I've met a few Israelis in my time, the one thing that struck me is the common, self-delusional, thread that they want peace. Yes, congrats. You want peace..........ON YOUR TERMS
seriously, is this what the dippy idiots are being taught in your schools ? that the palestinians are unreasonable people who don't want peace ? and hate jews due to some kind of religious dogma ?
The rapist wants to make love on his terms.
Just as Israel wants to make peace on Israel's terms.
ffs.
PS: the whole 'israel off the map' thing can also be put down to the fact that 'palestine' was literally wiped off the map less than a generation ago. Palestine used to be on the map, then *poof*, it wasn't. Seriously, go to your maps and look for palestine. You won't find it. It used to be there. weird.

Alarmist bullshit. Please don't drop that "what is it going to take, a mushroom cloud" shit on me either. I heard that same line so many times before my country went into Iraq and where are we now? And here you are, talking about mushroom clouds and what will it take to wake people up.Olga wrote:If you actually believe that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a good guy, you are totally 100% lost and out of touch with 99% of the World. That is seriously so fucking obscenely ironic that I almost think that you can not be serious. You must be fucking with me right?
Whether you are joking or you are a joke I've been through this 10,000 times. I really don't have the time for it right now. If you want to know how I feel search out my posts.

But yeah that's the gist of the reason why a zionist government is a bad thing, they have a manifest destiny, and that doesn't include the palistinians.
Well here in the states the press made the troubles in Belfast into a religious war, really no talk at all about the underlying causes etc. I'm sure it's the same in Israel. You've seen it on here a number of times, jewish people claiming that the only reason palestinians hate them is because they are jewish.......I've met a few Israelis in my time, the one thing that struck me is the common, self-delusional, thread that they want peace. Yes, congrats. You want peace..........ON YOUR TERMS

Again, the people who want to believe that the whole thing is about religion will ignore this as much as possible, the fact that the UK promised the palestinians their own country etc. in return for helping in the war is overlooked. It's really because the palestinians are muslims b0unce? don't you get it? Ignore the fact that the are more pictures of palestinian women with uncovered heads than Saudi women, in much the same way the brutality of the Saudi regime is ignored in favor of only looking at the brutality of Iran...... After a while the whole logic really does seem like a horse with blinders type of thing? How much information can be ignored? How long can people pretend that we are on a high road when every last little bit of information points towards an obvious lack of care for the well being of a people if it doesn't fit into out agenda? which is so obviously about oil that it's not even funny, and it's just seems hypocritical when people try to use any excuse they can to make it into something besides that.PS: the whole 'israel off the map' thing can also be put down to the fact that 'palestine' was literally wiped off the map less than a generation ago. He's right though, there's a big difference between saying Israel will be wiped off the face of the map, and saying that the current Israeli government will be wiped off the face of history. Major difference.
Doesn't mean he's not anti Israel though, or not a fundamentalist muslim.
I don't agree with you on this but you are a very intelligent individual. In my opinion, one of the smartest people on the board.
Let me ask you this simple child like question.
If the "Zionist" Israeli government gets wiped off the face of history/map (historically), what will become of the jews? In your opinion?
And do you give a damn?![]()
OK here's the rub, Israel isn't going anywhere, and wars are NOT fought exclusively by extremists. FDR wasn't anything like George Bush, and he did fine against the nazis. Israel doesn't need an extremist attitude in much the same way Iran doesn't. Currently Iran is wielding it's authoritarian government against it's own people, and Israel is attacking it's usual target, palestinians. I'm not OK with either situation.
What seems to have happened world wide is modern leaders don't bother to read the Art of War anymore, and the propaganda machines are in full throttle. Nobody respects the enemy, and instead prepares for war by making the enemy into something they are not.
Nowadays everybody thinks they have to have a bloodthirsty, fundamentalist attitude to go up against one, which makes no sense at all. Even though Stalin was a psycho, it's still possible to see that it wasn't his intention to purify the race etc. Even if Churchill was at first fooled by Hitler and was pretty far right, he wasn't anything like Bush etc.
Israel could survive just fine if they went into talks with the Palestinians, if they gave back homes to people they took them from, if they treated the Palestinians as equals. They already harbor no trespass against them, but they offer the "enemy" NOTHING in return. I chalk that up to a fundamentalist attitude in the core of the government there.
Israel is rotten at it's core, it was founded IMO in yet another chess game move by the British, who in their colonialism were the masters at taking a minority and giving them unprecedented power during occupation. Scottish immigrants in Ireland, ethnic minorities in India, etc. etc. the list goes on. Create a situation where it's seen as necessary to have Britain establish order....... and it's not seen as odd at all that a british person came up with the idea of giving the jewish people their "homeland"?? Like the english give anything away without a catch?
Now that in no way is any reason to not recognize the shear and utter horror that the jewish community had just suffered in the Holocaust. Having said that though, creating a "sanctuary" for a single religious people in a muslim territory, with deep pocket backing from the west, and recent scars from ethnic hatred in europe..... it's a recipe for disaster, and an obvious chess move by the west. If Israel sided with the palestinians, and started really working with the people there, that would seriously fuck with the west, and be an amazing thing to behold.
As it stands Israel is acting like a beaten child that finally gets a chance to wield power, it's sympathizing with the abuser, and now that it has a chance even playing a lot of the same games. I hear that Palestinians even get a different liscense plate on their car? Like the Dr. Zuess book on Sneeches.
Anyway, Israel could easily move away from Zionism, and embrace a more open attitude. It doesn't mean that they would all of a sudden become pansies, just that war and violence would not be all they offered.
Extremism fuels extremism, pretty simple really.

Wake up and smell the World we live in. The only irony in this is the size of blinders you have on. Spain, Sudan, London, Indonesia, WTC, 911? Put the bong down and wake up.

300000-600000 dead muslims (depending on your source). I feel much safer now. I'm sure all their relatives will appreciate the fact they died for democracy, though.smutek wrote: Alarmist bullshit. Hasn't both US and UK govenments now admitted that the threat of terrorists attacks increased significantly after invading iraq? Not that most of us really needed to be told that.

Re-quoting this. If there is any evidence to the claims that US/UK are admitting this, I would like to know.andydes wrote: 300000-600000 dead muslims (depending on your source). I feel much safer now. I'm sure all their relatives will appreciate the fact they died for democracy, though.

The most credible numbers i have seen that reflect civilian deaths based on direct violence are close to 80-90.000 these are deaths directly attributed to gun shot wounds and bomb/explosion damage. The actual numbers of deaths that are directly related to the invasion and attributed to damaged utilities such as hospitals, sewage and water plants, food distribution as well as depleted uranium and s on is getting up into above a million. I'll see if i can dig up the article i found these statistics in, i usually pass this kind of information by as a lot of the time it isn't very accurate and is often based on some scientific formula as apossed to actual records of deaths kept in morgues, hospitals and so on.Machinesworking wrote:Re-quoting this. I'm not sure that either government has admitted that acts of terrorism have become ore likely since the invasion. I would imagine figures could be found to back this "fact" up though as so many protest groups have now been classed as terrorist that the numbers will obviously increase.

let's not forget the widely reported deaths of over HALF A MILLION children (close to a million civilian deaths in total) due to the sanctions placed on iraq leading up to the invasion.
