Sends greyed out?

Running a set and the sends on the tracks have gone greyed out... what does this mean and how do I get them back?

right click and turn them on.

somewhere along the line they added this and the default is deactivated

I forget what the official word is on this, but activating the sends adds cpu or induces latency or some such thing..

i dunno i leave them on.
