rendering problems - Live 4.0.1

Post by Deadbeat » Thu Sep 09, 2004 3:48 pm

Hi Everyone

Was pulling my hair out yesterday with a rendering issue. For some reason, the volume of one of my tracks took a severe dip in the middle of a 5:05 song after rendering. Thinking that it may be a VST effect related issue I deleted all VST effects from the project, resaved and tried to render again with the same result. I also tried rendering the track on it's own in case it was a disk speed related issue, but to no avail. In the end, the only way to make it sound right was to render half the track, then the second half and paste them together in Sound Forge. Obviously not an ideal solution.

The only other things I can think to add is the track in question has a compressor II on it, and I've double and triple checked all envelopes for the track to make sure i didn't draw in the dip in volume myself by mistake.

I'm willing to send the project file along if neccessary.

Scott

Hey Scott,
feel free to mail me the set and i will check what`s wrong with it.
Did you uncheck the "make it sound like real bad dub" option in the Prefs->Styles->Artefacts section ?

Allways yours monolake

That is really strange. I have seen stranger, like if you make the hits too small, live just skips over them sometimes. You could see the snips of audio but you can't hear them, but sometimes you can. So if you put those samples in ram then they work, the only problem is you could have like 200 tiny samples in your song and that would take all day. This is not directly related but since Monolake is replying in this post I figured what the heck. If you consolodate your edits in the arranger view, why would the software think it's a good idea to make them 24bit if they were 16bit to begin with. Oviously I will record new audio at 24bit, but If I'm just going to consolodate a bunch of edits, why make 16bit files larger then they have to be? When is the update coming out to fix all the bugs, seriously cant' get anything done in 4.01, runs really slow and crashes all the time, I'm affraid to sneeze around it. Can't blame Live 100%, seems like OSX 10.3.3 is just a strangley unstable os for apple.

I was going to update, then I kept reading how many problems people are having with it. Why, do you think it will make all the difference? Plus I keep my music cpu off line. So I use a pc to do internet type stuff like downloading updates. then I network the Pc/Xp and the Mac. Well now for some unknown reason, 10.3.3 doesn't read my network properly. So I can't update even if I wanted to. I went on a mac forum and this seems to be a common problem with netwrking Macs and Pc's. But with 10.3.5 and not .3. Im sure it's user error of some sort.
