Actually, I got mine because I played with one at a local music store, and it was about the most fun I've ever had with an instrument, not to mention the fact that it sounds amazing. I still use soft synths and my Ion, but the Moog flat-out rules, not only for bass but also for the experience of playing. Even if you don't get one, go someplace that sells them and play with one.
