My girl and I are going for sure. Can't wait for the Modeselektor show on Friday!

I'm going to check it out for the first time this year--pretty excited about the lineup so far.

How do you know they're playing on friday? I couldn't find a schedule anywhere.

Particularly interested in some of the less dance-oriented acts: Tim Hecker, Fennesz.

I'm going for sure. I've been going since 2004. Even got a chance to play in 2006

Check the menu item called "MUTEK 2008 REVEALS FULL PROGRAMME FOR 9TH EDITION!" on the Mutek site.

Scroll to the bottom and voila...there it is!

A worshop for Mutek 2008?

Post by Dj Sly20 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:03 pm

I wonder if there will be a woorkshop (or two) for Live 7 this year at Mutek?
Any news about that?

There probably will be Ableton workshops again, but I must say, I wasn't that impressed by the one I went to last year. Rather than having any kind of organized presentation about themes and concepts, the guy just opened up a project that he was working on and just pointed here and there saying what he was doing. Not very helpful. And insult to injury, the actual 'music' in the project was really crappy...

HOWEVER...

Robert Henke was doing a performance of 'Layering Buddha', and was extremely personable after the set - we were all looking at his session window and seeing how everything was mapped out, and he patiently answered questions and so on. Really was the highlight of the whole fest for me.

I approve. I supposed your are talking about that dj from New York (during the afternoon). He was invited by Ableton for that...

But in 2006, Jesse Terry and Dave Hill Jr (they work for Ableton) did a really good job with an in-deep review of all fonctions, tools, tips and tricks for Live.

I also liked the workshop with Stefan Betke (a.k.a. Pole) on mastering in 2006. It worth the extra 10$...
