Rewire troubles: Ableton Not Reading MaxMSP Midi Information

Post by Myrrdin » Thu Apr 17, 2008 6:44 pm

Hello everyone. I am having difficulty running MaxMSP as the rewire master and Ableton as the rewire slave. Ableton doesn't seem to be reading midi information I send to it from Max. I have read ddg's tutorials thoroughly, and have copy/pasted parts of his rewire patch into my MaxMSP patch to get it to work. Still, no luck with Ableton reading Max's midi info. What other reasons could be behind this? In my midi/sync preferences in Ableton, I have MaxMSP selected btoh for 'track' and 'remote'. On my midi track, when I select to receive Midi from MaxMSP, no information is being received, i.e. the midi levels are all at 0. Any suggestions?

Much thanks.

You're using the ad_rewire driver with audio "on" in Max?

When i had this problem it was because max would immediately turn off the driver when i turned it on. The only way I got it to work was to have a track in ableton set to receive audio from max with monitor to IN, THEN turn audio on the ad_rewire driver. Then MIDI worked fine.

Do you get an error in the max info window?
