HELP - clip launching!

Post by Defiant Kinetics » Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:15 am

Maybe I'm just being really stupid but I can't seem to figure this out despite looking in the manual and being pretty sure Live can do this:

I want to be able to launch a whole scene in session view, but have the option so that say just one clip in the whole scene, doesn't actually play its audio till 2 bars later after the rest of the clips (or whatever amount of time is specified) after being triggered?

So I basically I want to trigger the scene and have a clip in the scene not actually play until later on, after a few bars for example.

This must be possible?

sure, there are lots of ways to do that

you could insert 2 bars of silence onto the front of the clip,

you could use two scenes, with a blank clip, some follow actions, possibly some legato mode..

you could put a 2 bar, volume=0, unlinked envelope on the clip (if it is a 2 bar or less loop, or otherwise appropriate to do so)

etc

Thanks for the reply. I have been inserting bars of silence onto clips to get around it but it takes a while to piss about doing that kind of stuff so I want to find another quicker method, I will experiment.

cool well there's two other things to try...

the envelope is probably the fastest. is this a loop?

Yeah its a loop. I get it now, cheers man. Just realized how to do it by unlinking the sample envelope, extending the bars then muting the bits that I don't want to be heard
Whoop!
