what did you use for the video?

lead me to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbMS08NEaTA
he talks about his Max/MSP patch
I used an old copy of premiere

it's not very complex, I lined up the version of his promo video first - with the vocals aligned where they could. Then I overlaid the video of his gang of disinterested and uninspired session musicians over the top and then chopped it up.

It took me about 3 hours max.

and then I thought - why the fuck aren't I making my own damn video - this fucker can do his own! So I think I'll have a go of that this weekend. I've got two cameras here - each broken in their own unique way. I have a notebook full of daft video ideas.

BTW - what's with the whole "Alexis" thing, tired of being Mr #1 poster?

BTW - did you check that link I posted? it reminded me that I really want to do something like that - I'm wondering if I can do it with Reaktor 4

I've seen that before.
I actually quizzed him about his max patch once, I cornered him after a gig like an annoying techno geek.
He said it is the most basic thing you could possibly imagine doing in Max, he was approached by Cycling to speak about it and he said - look there's really not a lot to say. It was about the second thing he ever made in Max and he never updated it because it did what he wanted. I think he said that he hadn't really made anything else at all!

a five track looper, I bet you could make one in Reaktor. You could make one in a lot of apps.
Hows your beatboxing and soulful yodelling though?

It's sad that he's out on the road doing sub-Jamiroquai now though. Ah well, at least I saw him when he was doing the interesting stuff.

yeah - there's probably already about 300 in the reaktor user library - might have a look later - but actually it feels like re-inventing the wheel really - Live is a far better tool for this, the problem is in the control, and even Tone Deft's one pedal max patch might help there - I might be more inclined to look at Glove PIE and knock up something similar with a USB keyboard with half the keys off or something - although I already have a shitty sustain pedal that I managed to use with TOne's patch

well, I'm not going to be any threat to Kid Beyond, but I guess I would be closer to maybe a Tom Waits meets Bjork meets imogen heap type of thing

I just knocked up something using the mouse to click the buttons in about 5 minutes that is quite a nice vibe and it reminds me how much i love doing this kind of thing

thanks :)

As it has now been 'rejected' by Warp I think I'll strip the vocals off and it can be my own track.

It actually works pretty well without the vocals.
