A re-evaluation, for what it's worth...

1. The unacceptably large 8 second gap (the screen displays ***WAIT*** ) when switching between automap universal (template 38 ) and Ableton Automap (template 40)
After having studied the automap 2.0 videos on Novation's site, this may not be a problem.
Because with Automap 2 one doesn't have to switch templates at all - ONCE the mixer automap for Live is released that is...
I've been exploring the Cubase mixer automap and IF the eventual Live mixer automap works the same as the current Cubase implementation, (i.e fully customizable ) then v2.0 it will be a stunning improvement on an already good system.
Just what the doctor ordered for proper live, Live sets. Novation bang on target -again.

2. When you press the button to close the new browser window, the display does not revert to the previous display, which was indicating which buttons do what new functions. Not a big problem just a bit of clunky V1.0 behaviour.
Upon reflection this isn't a bug, just that you have to push one of four buttons to exit this mode, and the buttons aren't labelled onscreen while you are in this mode, so there's no seeing how to escape...

I'm still evaluating and not exactly sure whether it's any improvement for my situation personally, apart from the lack of "Automap is offline"
From my point of view, once the Live mixer automap template is released, my SL should be massively more useful onstage.
However a couple of reservations:
1. I DO hope that the track mute status is displayed onscreen in the Live's mixer Automap in same way that the Cubase mixer automap does. Rather than relying on The laptop screen to tell me mute status.
Because I can then leave the laptop to the side for an occasional glance and work with the SL only... ( Which is one of the two main reasons of a using controller for me...)
2. Presumably I'll have to create the Live mixer Automap with far more pages than the Cubase one because we are currently unable to wrap Live's plugins with the Automap wrapper, so they'll have to be controlled via the Live mixer automap.
It remains to be seen whether this is any sort of disadvantage.
but I am impressed so far...
