lost track numbers in Live 7.0.3

Just installed 7.0.3 and started and new set. After a while, I wanted to swap some tracks and I realized that, except for one track, all the others are not numbered!!! The only numbered track changes its number accordingly to its actual position (and this is what I need), while the others remain unnumbered.
I need to recover my work!!

Automatic track numbering is almost vital for easy controlling tracks from my Remote SL.

I also tried dragging the tracks of the set at issue into another set but they remain unnumbered... Any idea?

Never saw anything like that in L5 and L6.Am I missing something?

EDIT: the above issue happens each time I rename a track in any set.
In other words, renaming tracks means losing the automatic numbering system...

Ableton added this feature after many many requests to stop forcing track numbers upon people.
You can still add track numbers yourself. And I think there is a method to keep the track numbering automatically, but I cant recall what it is - if it exists.

They also made it so that the word "rendered" isn't added to every file you render.

I'm going to complain about that with Abletons... can't believe it...

this is a good thing.

can you not see the HUGE numbers on the mute buttons?

it is pointless to have that duplicated in a space which is limited anyway and further compromised by the drumrack arrows. having the number there is irrelevant. If you really need the number twice then type it in!

first of all, I'm sure in many occasions this is a feature, anyway I demand to be able to choose between this and the previous behaviors

second, with this new "feature", automatic numbering gets lost and that's crap: either you want your labels to remain fixed or you lose automatic numbering

third, I mostly use my Remote SL displays where numbers are very useful in many occasions, therefore I can't see that HUGE numbers on the mute buttons

Indeed, automatic numbering is turned off as soon as you enter a custom name. If you like to still have your tracks automatically numbered when you rename them, add a "# " before the name, and it will behave as before. The little addition is that you can use "## " for a two digits auto-numbering.

now that's the sort of software design i like. i was very pleased when automatic numbering was dumped, but it's good to know that people who liked it can still go back.

wow, thank you very much!

one last question: why didn't you document that in the manual? at least, I wasn't able to find anything about this issue.
