My grot box is a 1993 Toyota Corona - both automotive and sonically.

At first I thought you were saying you drive a beer, but son of a bitch, Toyota actually makes a car called Corona. That's gotta be a DUI magnet.

Actually I think the beer is quite possibly made from Toyotas. I've never been able to drink one of those without getting a headache.

All beer makes me feel bloated, tired, and gives me a headache but sometimes you are in the miserable situations when the hosts are too cheap to pony up for some Jack or Captain. It's a really bad start to an evening.

personally I'm a big beer lover and hate bourbon. Corona is the only one that gives me an instant headache.

I highly agree with you. That is indeed a position to take. It's somewhat of an isolationist position, however...

They even built PA scaled Club systems. They are a friggin JOKE!
A Club i used to Dj on a monthly base had these and it was pure shite, on the last few Gigs i brought my home stereo and borrowed a shitty Subwoofer from a friend... People went nuts, promoter kicked the event because he said that im gonna destroy his signature club*sound*

From what I've heard the word 'Grotty' was actually invented for George Harrison to use in the film 'Hard Days Night'. The scriptwriters thought that this was the sort of thing that a Beatle might say.... curious.

interesting,
I wasn't invented then so it's a bit before my time. A bit of googling showed me that a few people do think that
http://www.langston.com/Fun_People/1995/1995AHA.html

So it seems the word did certainly start to become popular in the early 60's, whether Alun Owen really did invent it, or whether he was the first to use it in media is hard to say. Early 60's England was rife with hip slang, the gay scene had Polari which is a mess of crazy words that started to migrate into the main language.

One thing I did learn is that the American "Grody" as in "Grody to the max"(Zappa - Valley Girl) is simply the Americanisation trying of this hip new English word "Grotty" but lacking the required dour northern English accent.
