MOUSE: THE OTHER HALF PLEASE (OUR BASIC RIGHT-CLICK)
More than half actually. There are infinite uses for everyone's basic right-click. Thanks..

i'll tell ya why (please lets not start a war).. MAC snobbery......
"well mac users dont have a second button so lets not even bother...
its true tho init???? how much more easier could you get if you could route audio thru a right click window.. or choose between pencil mode and selct mode etc.. (at least give us a modifier)
but i do sort of understand.. it does make you HAVE to learn the keyboard shortcuts.
still , would make live even more intuitive

Good suggestion. I can only see one problem with your "for macs" hyptothesis. On the mac you can still hold down the ctrl button with a click to normally get the "right-click" menu. The astounding thing is that Live has no right-click menuing at all. I really appreciate their spartan design aesthetic, but yes, not having submenuing is pretty maddening and perplexing.

eerrrmmm ctrl click uhhhhh ctrl click
With MacOSX and the current Cubase family it is possible to simply connect a PC-style wheel mouse and, without having to install any drivers, start making use of Cubase SX's right mouse button context menus without any further configuration.
this is a very cool thing ...

I also have a Logitech 7!!!! (serious) button mouse (MX510) on a G5.
Works perfect and I love it.
BUT what I miss even more is scroll wheel support in any VST application (and Live).
Wouldn´t it be cool to change values with the scroll wheel?

Primarily sitting in front of PC's, but I do really remember a Live version that supported the use of the scroll wheel to apparently dial the dialers...gfisch wrote: Wouldn´t it be cool to change values with the scroll wheel?

I think it was in version 2. And I thougth it was really silly that the app didnt support it when 4 came about.
Thinking about it, could it be something to do with a special mouse-driver translating dial movements to up and down keystrokes (directed to the component of focus of course)..?
sigs are out of fashion

I think one thing to remember is that Live is designed for 'live' environments. Using a mouse or something similar makes it less easy to use Live 'live', especially if the right-mouse features are not part of the standard key-command set. I would actually like to see more support for both keyboard and MIDI-mapping of the Live functionality so good keyboard and MIDI controllers would be designed around the features.
Besides, seeing a DJ use a mouse onstage with Live is so boring :-).

PS: Sasha mentioned something similar in a recent interview as well, and he's constructing a personal controller for his use of Live when DJ:ing.

I am using the right mouse button all the time with Ableton Live. I even use 3 buttons.
Left button is usual click, right button is Alt click, and middle button is Shift click. If I needed it differently I'd just re-assign the buttons. On a Mac that is. Scroll wheel support would be nice though, as would be context menus in some situations.
