Duplicate tracks ?

Post by defredoo » Mon Sep 13, 2004 11:20 am

It seems that I can't duplicate a track wether audio or midi, I've found nothing in the manual, and would really appreciate duplicating a track so that I can, for instance, double a track with octave superior, or making a mono e-synth sound polyphonic.

I may have missed this feature because it seems so obvious to be able to do this.

thx

You could always make a copy of the clip and drag it to another track -- for example option-drag on a Mac. If you want the whole track, you could merge the track and then do a copy, but you then of course remove the individual clips on the track. I would just make another audio track below, select multiple clips in the source track and option-drag them below. --Kent

I'm with you, this feature is a no-brainer and I have needed it many times, particularly when a track has loaded FX and/or FX routing.

I've been using Kent's workaround mentioned instead but I can't imagine why this has been overlooked so far.

Yes, actually I do agree that in order to follow the UI guidelines for selecting a track, and control-A, then the whole track should be selected. This is consistent with selecting multiple tracks and selecting control-A, as well. So this should indeed I think be implemented to keep the UI guidelines consistent. --Kent
