oh sweet, this is what I have been looking for, something on the ins/outs of Drum Racks for fills/bridges and stuff. And hints on what all is included with the 15 lessons?forge wrote:Actually my new video series goes online @ Groovebox tomorrow (Wednesday) US central time
It's a 'power pack' (15 videos) on designing electronic drums using Live 7's drum rack, slice to new MIDI track and mostly Simpler but occasionally Sampler as well.
This is quite a specific offering, but we have a more entry level Live 7 offering coming 1 month from now, and there will be a promotion with upgrading to Live 7 and getting a month free or something like that - basically that will mean you get to check out the new series volume 1, then individual videos from volume 2 as they go online
sorry for the shameless plug, but it came up!
there will be some kind of announcement tomorrow.
But for now the Live 6 series is still online

well this is more focused on designing the sounds themselves - it basically starts off with a pretty ordinary beatbox sample recorded into a mic then uses the slice to new MIDI track feature to slice it out onto drum racks then goes through taking little pieces and using them as simple waveforms and creating sounds out of them - like mixing 3 together and shaping them into a 909 snare for exampleironwill2000 wrote:oh sweet, this is what I have been looking for, something on the ins/outs of Drum Racks for fills/bridges and stuff. so it's more sound design with a look at some basic synthesis using simpler - and the point of the shitty beat box sample was to show how you can start with any thing and make it into a real usable electronic drum sound
there will be a volume 2 of this series in a couple of months that looks more at using it
I still think the best training is to sit down and play with the software. I learnt everything I know by first reading the manual and then just sitting down and experimenting with the software. It takes time of course, but its very rewarding time.
