cool though

you need to build your own (virtual) midi controller (reaktor/ max/msp; synthmaker -> check monotouchlive.com)andrewbrewer wrote:i've got a touchscreen and it doesn't work well w/ the live controls.
works OK w/ vsts if they have big controls.
live does odd things w/ the touchscreen, it feels like the controls keep extending in a direction even if you aren't going there -- the feel just doesn't work w/ the touch-screen yet.
it might just be my screen though.
clip-fire works fine though.
it's a shame because the live controls are plenty big enough for this type of control.

I used a touch screen in Live 6 and it is SOOOOO frustrating. Imagine losing contact with the surface and having to regrab a fader or sweep knob while trying to execute an effect. Triggering scenes and individual clips was hard too on a 17" touchscreen cause I would miss a lot when pressing the screen. Having to calibrate the damn thing all the time ruined it for me as well. My suggestion is not to buy one just yet. I had one just laying around as a developer and even though it was free, I junked the idea after a couple of weeks.
Just not the same tactile feel as a physical controller or keyboard as far as having finess or tweakability. Take the money you are thinking of spending on one and put it into a nice midi controller with lots of assignable controls. I use a trigger finger and a yamaha keyboard and I am happy as a lark.

I have a Cintiq monitor. I use it with live. Using Pen2Live, and mapping the eraser to the pen is really awesome. Its the best work around to Abe's lack of Wacom support.
The Cintiq is one of the best purchases I've made. Really helps the RSI and workflow.
I returned my Novation SL. Most plugins don't have this issue. For the ones that do, I adjust their params with the control in which Abe's hosts the plugin.

But, it is frustrating as hell that we have to use this work around. It sucks having to constantly turn my pen around.
I'm not sure this workaround works with a "Touch Screen" whereby you use your finger.
