Is it only me?
When I hit a key on my midi keyboard, there is a delay in which the note goes through Live in which the note is actually heard from my sound module. I have been using other applications (vs-pro, Acid) and I have never had this issue. When I hit the midi controller while in those applications, the sound is immediately heard. I have checked every setting in Live and can't find anything that would cause the delay. I was hoping that there was a fix in 4.01, but it's the same problem. To see how bad the delay is, I opened vs-pro simultaneously, hit the midi key, and it was like ping pong. The note was immediately heard from vs-pro then through Live.
I even uninstalled then reinstalled. SAME ISSUE.
Midi Delay Using External Sound Module
Live 4s AWFUL midi 'thru' delay is dependent on the 'audio buffer' setting in the Prefs.
Really lame. NO other program does this.
I complained A LOT about this issue when Live4 was in beta...
Abletons response is it is because of the 'routing features'.
But I think they need to make the 'monitor ON' button function ASAP! when something is routed to an external midi port and compensate the audi to IT... (or add another monitor button , but PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ABLETON!)
As a lame workaround, I've been using another small midi 'modify' program (Midi Pipe in OSX) that I run at the same time as Live4. It routes the midi in port to the midi out port that I want to play in realtime...
It seems there are very few of us using Live4s midi for external midi device playing because there should be a storm of complaints about this!
Hopefully they'll see the light on an update,
cheers
