It's been working really well for me.. I did have to bump up my buffers to 128 for a full acoustic drum mix i'm working on..
I'm still figuring out my work flow with this setup.. It's almost to powerful. Reapers midi is weak so i'm keeping all midi and loops in live. Keeping traditional audio tracks in reaper for the editing/routing advantages.

The solution is ReaRoute & Midi Yoke with REAPER. ReaRoute is a ASIO Driver that Routes the Audio into Reaper.
Much better then rewire. You can still use 100% of live functions. REAPER handles low latencies much better. PLUS doesn't have the gui glitch problem.
Any 3rd party vsts that are causing problems with Live open them in REAPER and route the midi from live into the plugin in reaper. works great. Nevermind the functions that REAPER brings to the table. Checkout the tutorial

ALSO don't be put off by reapers default gui there are many great skins. check the downloads.
Hi rythminmind, thanks for sharing this. Basically it works, but i dont get any use out of it, since i still get the same crackling as if i was routing audio directly to the soundcard without reaper in the chain.rhythminmind wrote:This is great i'm running with buffer at 64 samples 4.35 total latency. I've never been able to do this with Live alone..
I suppose you had a different issue, as far as i can see from your post a plugins gui seemed to have created a problem. That is not what my original post was about. It is about Lives gui engine seems to induce crackles.
Thanks a lot for trying to help though!

I stumbled over a bit of information, which might help to remedy at least one of the graphic glitches issue. I have no idea if these piece of information will actually help but it won't do any harm either:

I still would like to hear an answer by ableton on this topic. Dear support staff, if you are reading this I would be thankful if you could take your time to respond. Thanks!

speedstep \ power save
you can run powercfg.exe on the command prompt, powercfg is a buildin command under Windows XP.
Try POWERCFG.EXE /Q
and check if Processor Throttle (AC) is disabled.
If not you can try to change it with something like
POWERCFG.EXE /x Home/Office Desk /processor-throttle-ac 0
try powercfg.exe /? for the right syntax, this different for sp1\sp2.

hi filterstein, as discussed further above, I allready made sure that no energy saving mechanism are interfering. thanks though!
To the developers:
At least the "minimize window" crackling can be solved, since a similar problem was fixed in Reaper. When minimizing Live, Windows tries to swap its memory ressources into the page file to gain memory for other applications. This behaviour can easily be observed with Live 6/7. Open it up and minimize when its loaded: phyical ram usage immediately drops by a vast amount, hickups are the results. So this could and should be prevented. More infos on that issue can be found here:
http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3809
On a side note: I just swapped my dual core cpu for a quad core and it still shows exactly the exact same symptoms (crackling) while running small buffer settings.

I completely eliminated the noise on my system. No more cracks, pops, or CPU load jumps while using the ReMOTE ZeRO SL.
Preferences: MIDI SYNC:
Control Surface: RemoteSL
Input: ReMOTE ZeRO SL: Port 2
Output: ReMOTE ZeRO SL Port 1
MIDI Ports:
Input: Automap MIDI: ON, OFF, ON
Input: ReMOTE ZeRO SL: Port 1: ON, OFF, ON
Input: ReMOTE SL Input (ReMOTE ZeRO SL Port 2): ON, OFF, ON
Input: ReMOTE ZeRO SL Port 3: OFF, OFF, OFF
Output: Automap MIDI: ON, OFF, ON
Output: ReMOTE ZeRO SL (ReMOTE ZeRO SL Port 1): ON, OFF, ON
Output: ReMOTE SL Input Port 2: ON, OFF, ON
Output: ReMOTE ZeRO SL Port 3: OFF, OFF, OFF
I'm not sure if people are still dealing with this problem but switching to these settings instantly made my SL and Live run flawlessly.

A thing to that nasty speedstepping thing. I use my notebook for audio stuff, which is a Core 2 Duo (T7200) with 2GHz. Using Notebook Hardware Control, I set it to profile "Max. performance". What I get is still constant switching between 1GHz and 2GHz (6x and 12x). Both NHC and CPU-z show that behaviour. When I try Speedswitch with Max. Performance (with either NHC only disabled or uninstalled) Speedswitch itself tells me it is running constantly at 2GHz, but CPUz still reports switches from 1 to 2 GHz - how is that possible? Should that mean I still have speedstepping alive?
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the issue I had. See my post earlier in this thread.samsensual wrote:A thing to that nasty speedstepping thing.
