is there a way to select tracks by midi?

I know that the faderfox lx1 can do it...
I have a bcr2000...

If you know what MIDI message the Faderfox is sending, I bet you could program the other device to send the same thing. I don't have either one, so I can't tell ya ...

faderfox is sending note messages...
but behringer is not able to send continous note messages... sniff

What do you mean by continuous? I might be wrong, but I thought that note messages were instantaneous (on/off). Faders and such are continuous. Am I missing something?

sorry, I wasn't very clear. in fact my head is not clear @ all

well, if you turn the button from the faderfox, it sends one note after the other... like C1, then D1, then E1 etc... you have to manually map the notes in live... but no big deal... they're very quickly assigned....
don't know about the offs and the ons... BUT, that's not the question here...
is there another way to select the tracks...

I found this particulary useful to check what effects you are using in a set... like you turn THE knob and you browse through the different tracks... without using the mouse... it's very quick and efficient... like sometimes I forget what kind of effects I'm using...

Ohhh, I get.

You could use the arrow keys on the computer keyboard with the track pane in focus, but that's probably something you've already dismissed as an alternative.

in fact, I havent really thought about that...
but then again, my powerbook is always far away from me, and I can't really see the keyboard...

How about you get an aftermarket USB keyboard with a long cable? You could do all sorts of stuff what that.

sorry, only have 2 usb ports (one mouse, one bcr2000), and I like my equipement as small as possible... I've got a bike and a vespa for transportation. that's it. AND I definately don't spend any more money on things not producing sound *lol*

you could get a small USB hub...like 2 or 4 ins....resonably cheap, and you could even get one from ebay.
could be worth your while....and its portable a hell (not that you want to transport a world of fire and brimstone on your vespa...imagine what would happen if you came off your vespa)

using the arrow keys just highlights the track at the top I believe, it doesn't change the view at the bottom in the efx area, I think what i'm trying to say is that the arrows keys don't highlight the tracks, and then click on them so that the efx area for the track is visible, that would take two steps the highlight and then the click.
