any bass players out there?
any bass players out there?
I have been looking to buy a new bass amp head for a 300 W Hartke cabinet. Granted that I have been having to use a 75 W peavey amp as a preamp, this will be a vast improvement. The guy at the store pointed me towards are Hartke 350 W amp head, but I've always sort of looked in the direction of ampeg.
So, now that I have a Hartke cabinet, which of these would be the best option?

or

I'm thinking both along the lines of having an amp head that is compatible with the cabinet (ampeg to hartke, which probably isn't an issue)
And which one is just a better option. I always seem to see ampegs at big live shows. Many thanks!

I'm a Trace Elliot guy and like SWR as well.99reese wrote:I have been looking to buy a new bass amp head for a 300 W Hartke cabinet. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go for the AMPEG.

So much depends on your style and budget. I have one of these, which is amazing because it weighs only 20 pounds, sounds great, and is loud enough to play with any acoustic instruments, including drums, so long as the drums themselves are not amplified.
So if I were looking for a separate amp to power a cabinet that I already had, I would definitely consider one of these. For that matter, I would also consider thisand this.

The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

of those 2 i would go for the ampeg for sure.
i just love the way an ampeg sounds.
but i use a galen kruger micro bass amp its so light i can ride my bike with that in a back pack and my electric bass on my back.. i've jammed with a drummer and 2 guitars and i could be heard very well (i wasn't even cranked)
1 word of advice, dont ever play through an aguilar rig unless you can afford to buy it...its fucking depressing how good that shit sounds lol
