serious laggs/ latency. CPU at 18%

Post by ponybob » Wed May 07, 2008 12:55 pm

hi!

this already happened a few times. i couldnt find out what the issues were.
i got a little lag/ delay when pressing start/stop or playing midi. also the graphics (track volume bars) are delayed. this happens randomly after lets say 20-30 mintues. when i save the file, the delay seems also to be "stored"

im running ableton 7 (latest version) on a brand new pc system. (4gb ram, intel quadcore 3,66) the cpu usage is at 18%. even if i remove vst's or delete tracks, the delay remains.

help is much appreciated, cause it sucks, cant finish my mix.....

thx,
pony

lags, random solos, etc...

i've had a similar issue after just installing 7.0.5...

24 audio tracks running with minimal fx, processor is running at about 30%, but i am having serious drop outs and random parts solo themselves on playback... and the little "D" keeps lighting up by the CPU meter.

i'm running a decent dualcore amdx2 w 2gb of RAM. wasn't having any problems with previous version!!!

anybody have any suggestions??? i want to get to work!!!
if you can't share it, it's not yours.

what only 18%? Mine lags at 47% with 3 vst's opened up.... what i want to know is why live takes so long to start up?? anyone?? i could boil a kettle the time it takes... seriously though high cpu is bad for a program like this,it has so much potential but what's the use of having all these features if you can't use all of them i ask?
cubase sx never presented me with this problem ever so what's happened with ableton software? it's all very well designing top quality software but it ain't no use to me having to render to wav every time i wanna open up more vst's... iv'e only had live for a month but already im thinking about ditching it as it's way too cpu hungry which is a shame as i started to like the program..47% though guys with only 3 vsts opened up is pretty soul destroying im just wondering if ableton are working on this problem some of us are having here?
cheers rob

47% is high. What vsts are you running. Are they cpu hogs?I'd contact support if i were you, high load and slow loading times aren't normal, sounds like could be a vst issue.

are any of you guys using usb interfaces? i've found the latest versions of live to be virtually unusable with my apogee mini-me, but when using my presonus firepod everything's very nippy
