how about naming it "box"
because if you like having a box full of shit in your house,
it's a good idea to get a cat.

There is the school of thought that cats are not dogs, and dont respond to a name in the same way a dog will. So whatever you do name it its not going to respond to it anyway, so you may as well choose something that gives you comic relief.

Nah, cat's can certainly be trained to know their name and come to you when you call. Takes persistence and the knowledge that it's possible. I trained a rescued feral cat to know his name, and other domestic cats like the bengal breed have been trained to play FETCH of all things.

If you want the cat to know & respond to it's name, I'd keep it to two, maybe three syllables max. Two's ideal tho.

For sure. We had a cat that played fetch every morning with the plastic ring left on the 2lt milk containers after you open them. It would bring us the ring ring every day. You could throw it accross the room and it would find it, and bring it right back to my side. At times this would go on for 20-30 mins at a time. We never set out to train it to do this, it just happened, if you know what I mean.

It was never the same after it got caught in the clothes dryer though. We were rushing around one day getting ready for visitors when my wife threw a top in the dryer to wear for the evening. It was in there for 5-6 mins when I realised that what sounded like shoes in the dryer was not....My wife was horrified. I swung from horror to piss my pants laughter every few seconds watching the thing trying to walk afterwards. True story.
