..:: On The Offline ::.. with Live 7 Project File!

Post by Tarekith » Fri May 16, 2008 2:39 am

Decided I hadn't made a more upbeat tune in a bit, so I sat down to see what I could come up with using only Live 7. This tune was done entirely in Live 7, using most of the included instruments from the Suite collection. I've even included the Live 7 project file in case anyone wants to take a look, or have a go at doing a remix. If you do a remix, let me know and I'll post the ones I like (think original) on my website and on my upcoming minisite on Addictech.com (yes, you'll get 50% of any sales too). The final render was done using Live 7.07, so make sure you're using the latest version of Live if you get any version mis-match errors.

Enjoy!

Wow, I cannot play this back on my new 8-core Mac Pro without pops, clicks and tempo variations, etc. Yet I can play back my own sessions that use a lot more CPU, but don't use Ableton effects and synths only. This is really weird! I ruled out my Fireface too. I would definitely point my fingers at Ableton and 8-cores on this one...

Yeah, CPU useage is about 30% here on my 2.16gHz MBP, and usually playback is fine. Sometimes I did get a couple pops and clicks as well though, but nothing that showed up in the render or stopped me from working. Frustrating though.

hehe, I like the colours a lot.

What surprised me is that you really used only very few plugs. The drum-rack is a combination from the drummachines from the suite, isn't it? No compressors or limiters, only some consequent eqs to filter out rumble below certain frequencies.

I have to show that to my buddy that always has 3 meters of plugs and then woders why the computer doesn't cope with it

This is actually a lot of plug ins for me still, I rarely use even this many.

Less is more :)

Interesting find I made...whenever I change the tracks that use Analog with Zebra, Massive whatever, CPU doesn't matter either the pops, clicks, and tempo variations go away. Seems to me that my MacPro doesn't like your Analog patches... :(

Hope you are referring to the tempo (upbeat) 'cause this track (as abort said) is giving me the creeps! 8O

Nice job, I'm sleeping with a nitelite.

Yeah, that is interesting. I had tried making a Drum Rack using only Analog's in the past, and in that case I had a lot of bad clicks and pops even though my CPU useage was really low too. Live doesn't like using more than one instance of Analog I guess.

Btw Tarekith, didn't mean to hijack your thread. I just got annoyed that I couldn't play your session which has a "merely" 12 tracks on my 8-core Mac without pops and clicks. I can however play it back just fine on my core2duo PC laptop without any problems. :( MacPro and Analog don't like each other! And yes you're right I can play one of the three Analog instances without problems. As soon as I turn on another one I get pops and clicks. I hope Ableton will fix this soon, but of course this will be the first time they hear about it...

Not a problem, and it's not the first time they've heard about, I mentioned it a few times in the Live 7 beta testing too. Just weird that it rarely afected me, I'd get maybe a pop or one click in the entire track on playback, certainly not a showstopper for me with "only" a 2.16 c2d MBP.

Na .. its just my nick name!

Damn..got doing an up date on my web page hadn't had time to work intensively on your remix,

But I will say the same like the others had posted, lots of clicks and pops.
I've never have used abletons plug ins as much. But probably will have to replace them things when remixing.

But I'll let you know what comes of it. TiL then.
