severe feedback w/ 10+ audio tracks and FX

Post by kiddid » Mon May 19, 2008 8:36 pm

Hey all,
I've run into this problem before and have basically ignored it until now...my ears are ringing... :x

I'm running a session with 10+ tracks and a large amount of FX. The CPU load meter only reads around 26% but after for a minute of playing the session 1 or 2 of my tracks will severely jump into the red and distort massively. The distortion, a high pitched ringing, will continue until I disarm one or all of the FX on that track.

Anyone know what is happening? This is killing me!

and do you have a reverb that is sending back to itself - or a delay that is doing the same?

because that's what it sounds like - you have routed an effect back on itself.

No, I haven't re-routed any of the FX or tracks. I've gone back into the session and trimmed down on both FX and automated actions and it's no longer occuring...The primary track I was having problems with has the following FX applied to it:

MIDI FX:
- Chord
- Apreggiator

AUDIO:
- Compressor II
- Gate
- EQ 3
- Reverb

I erased the use of a Dynamic Tube plug-in. I had also had a section of the song activating and de-activating FX for this track (reverb). It wasn't entirely necessary so I took those automations out. Now, at least for the time being, the distortion is not occurring...
