Best plugin to cut unnecessary frequencies?
Best plugin to cut unnecessary frequencies?
Hello, I'm trying to choose a good pass/filter plugin to do a basic cut of unnecessary frequencies. ie below 30 and above 17. Does anybody have a suggestion as to which one is the best/most transparent/ easiest to use? Is the one in ableton sufficient? That would be the auto filter right? I'm finding lately that making the best music doesn't entirely involve making music at all but knowing about pitfalls and how to avoid them. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the help, looks like it would do the trick... I think I'm still gonna have to muddle through banging the definitions of low cut/low shelf etc. through my head. I suppose it doesn't help that spectrum anylizers never make sense to me... Thanks for the pointer though..

you can spend a fortune on this sort of stuff, but it sounds like your just starting out so EQ8 should be fine for now. theres a load of freeware EQ's over at http://www.kvraudio.com/ if you feel the need to try other ones, some good info might turn up doing a forum search over there as well. generally speaking i don't do cuts like you've mentioned but i know a lot of people do - use your ears and see what sounds good and take it from there

Lives "DC" Functioon (in Saturator and Utility) involves a highpassfilter to cut unherad frequencies but I do not recommend to use this, because at this time, the filter works dependet on samplerates (see http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91505)
My English is not perfect, I know... Sorry about that.
