Anybody else NOT excitedly anticipating Live 8?

There's really just a few more things that I'd like to see implemented in the next verion...

Crossfading of audio clips on the arrange view.

Different curve shapes for automation. IMO, this can be done without creating any backward compatibility issues.

Track folders, like the ones that are present for Drum Rack.

A convolution processor/reverb.

A dedicated Waves L1 style limiter.

A spline based/LFO type MIDI modulator that can be routed to FX/synth parameters.

The ability to loop a clip, when it's not in a stretch mode.

And that's about it.

It is taking a long time to digest all the new goods. Coupled with learning all the new instruments, it's been a bit of a task. Live 7 was almost too much. (Actually, I feel like I'm just starting to get the best out of Operator.) I can't even consider adding in OIC from a time perspective. I have the usual wishlist of 'missing' features but I kinda hope they drag their feet putting out 8.

Except for the vocoder -> 7.2
(I'm not speaking to Prosoniq right now.)

Hi high post counts,

I'm a live user since ver 2. I have personally enjoyed the improvements to the program but as you guys allready sais the lot to go around and theres only so much each of use.

Live 7 brought me only couple features that I use a lot: Side-chaining, Hi-q mode (only marginally better), Better mix engine (didn't help enough imo) ... thats really it I'm affraid...

Working with automation curves always feels un-solid for me. I do work with them but try to avoid it also.

I have to say that the SESSION view is the only unique way of working that ableton live has ever had to offer. They should praise that and preferrably no try to slowly morph the whole prog into cubase etc. Session view is close to perfect solution for live use (for me anyhow) but as alway theres stuff to improve in it.

The collaboration with CYCLING 74 is propably single best thing ever happened in a audio software industry. There is no other software for me by far that I 'd rather got my hands on than live 8 because of that. Absolutely positively! Ppl say that it gonna get all wirey all around and the steep learning curve and bla bla BUT what it really is going to do is revolutionarize what we can do with this particular software. I'm sure Iif you don't want to get involved with max/msp programming that you can tuck all the stuff away and never look at it at all, could be even that they plan to sell it separately like operatro etc.

My only gripe about things concerning Live really is simple as this: If I want to make my music sound better (as in audio production technique)) I don't need more state of the arts hardware boxes or classy plugins, the only thing I need to do is switch back to a program like Nuendo that has an engine that sounds good.

it has been firmly established by Ableton that in Beats mode if the original tempo and the clip tempo match exactly then there is no warping taking place

if you think there is then try manually re-entering the tempos as occasionally there can be slight inaccuracies in the tempos beyond the 2nd decimal place as Live only displays the first 2

Since i decided to make the final mixing in another application, and use Live for the creative part of composing and fundamental sound perfection, it satisfies me to 100%. No interest in L8 at the moment (depends what it will bring).

It was a mistake from me, to expect from Live full DAW functionality. But it is already perfect - in the creative stages of production with session view. When the song is complete, i export the tracks, record the voices and mix them in another host, that is specialized for recording/mixing.

I've only just upgrade to 7 from 5 - and in fact I mostly just used 4 because I had an old machine that didn't have the propers specs for 5.

I only really bought 7 because I'd bought a new machine. Frankly I so far can't really see the difference yet...

Here's the feature I really want.

Forum Time Bomb - after a set period no greater than half an hour a day when you try to view this forum you will get a 404 error and Live will automatically launch instead. Advance settings include applying this across all websites or chat programs.
