Why do you want to sell it, does Ableton Live replaces the MPC for you ?
How about the sound diffrence and the tactile approach of the pads on MPC compared to Live 4?
I never used it ...but just quriouse ..since MPC is soo populare with lots of producers...why?

i use Live4 and the mpc together and can't wrap my mind around why anyone would ever sell the mpc. Sure Live makes editing, looping and sequencing breeze. I you can almost recreate the mpc's feel if you setup Live right....but it's not an mpc. Yes, the mpc doesn't have it and/or is the most modern machine out there but it kills (an expression) as for as simplicity, professional results (given you have skill), inspiration, and stability.

It's all personal preference but I made the mistake of selling my mpc 3yrs. ago and bought one those bells and whistle type machines, what'a mistake.

You don't need an MPC to make music but then again you don't need Live and/or whatever other gear your lusting after.

(last night i took a song that was about 5 min. long and dumped into the MPC1000 (usb connection....gotta love it). it totally brought new life into my track.)

MPC's short list, um...Premier, Prefuse73, Chris Clark, Pete Rock, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Sixtoo, Dr. Dre, Savath and Savalas, Nobody, Beatnuts, RJD2, MF Doom, Madlib (on & off), Chemical Brothers, Kanye West...and others that list goes on and on on on on on o onon onono

i know this is getting ot but can you just tell me 'what' you dumped into the mpc1k?

i'd just like to know your work method.

and how is the usb? what exactly is the interaction between mpc and pc?

i had an s6000 with usb and you could whip everything back and forth to the pc, can you drag and drop wavs onto the pads?

no flames here, but intakt ($179) by native instruments and live 4 is a much better setup than mpc and live4 anyday. in other words intakt as a drum machine "NOT A SEQUENCER" is a better product than mpc at a fraction of the price.

i know everyone loves the pads of the mpc and that inspires them to make music but i get inspired by the sound of the samples i am playing.

i do own mpc2000 (do not use anymore) but live4, vsti (s) and laptop is all you need.

What makes the MPC pads so nice compared to a MIDI keayboard?
Are the pads on MPC more velocity sencitive than a MIDI keyboard or..?
If so ..is there an inexpensive MIDI controller with the MPC style and feel pads for controlling Live4?

The Korg Microkontrol is popular. 8 knobs, 8 sliders, 16 pads, 37 keys, and a joy stick.

Tomorrow going to attend Live workshop in a music shop, will definitely check the Korg out ,may be better then Akai 16 for nearly same money. RS 7000 is great to team with Live, as sound module and it is the best for fast programming ( more accurate then MPCs, minus 4000 that is expensive and buggy unfortunately) of beats. Highly recommended. I would never go onstage without a standby, second laptop or in my case hardware sequenzer, just experience.
