I have been running 4.0.1 just fine for a while now with my C-MEDIA 5.1 soundcard (built in to soyo mobo) I wanted to experiment with multiple outs for dj applications, so I installed an old Creative Soundblaster PCI512 card in my system. The second soundcard runs fine. Windows recognizes both cards, and I can choose in control panel which to use as my primary sound driver. I am lead to believe that I have both cards installed correctly.
My problem comes when trying to run live. Origionally the program crashed near the end of the loading screen. It froze my entire computer, and I had to physically restart it (couldn't even ctrl+alt+del),. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling live so that maybe it would recognize my new hardware settings. Now when I run it I can load into the actual program, but almost instantly it freezes my whole system just the same as before.
Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
live crashes when trying to run multiple soundcards
I don't think this is a problem with Live. I have an Audiophile 2496 PCI and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 PCI working fine together. I would check for IRQ problems or related issues.
You don't mention which Windows version you're on, but crashes like this sound like hardware problems to me.
