What Softsampler Do You Use in Live the most

Post by ::mic-minimal:: » Fri Sep 24, 2004 5:22 am

I Know Live is a kick as sampler itself, but what sampler do you use in live
or besides live the most and why.

kontakt, kompakt, intakt, machfive, vsampler, Dicer, phatmatick pro, or what ever you use I just want to know what jobs you go to it for and why it's your main sampler?

peace and thanks in advance for the insight.

Reasons NNXT actually ,CPU lite ,sounds great rewired direct no Reason mixer and you can run heaps of them at once .
They also play soundfounts and I use reload for my old Akai sample CD library .
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

I use Sampletank 2 LE loaded with Sonic Synth sounds, and a couple of simple VST VA synths.

I use Live 4 and it's built in instruments for playing and warping the occasional original sample.

I like the simplicity of my setup - it keeps me focused on creating songs instead of getting lost in sound design.

Kontakt for me... I've never had issues with it in Live... It plays quite nicely!

sounds good, I guess I should clarify though that I'm reffering to the mangling of samples as opposed to playing multisampled instruments, although if you use it for that too thats cool, but i'm trying to find out 'why' everyones using what they're using to mangle their shit with inside Live and besides live.

I actually use Reason's NN-XT too, for the aforementioned reasons. It's super light and nice, and I don't really need more tweaking functions in the sampler itself than what it has to offer.

kontakt, kontakt, kontakt....
i love this sampler. it might be a bit CPU heavy, but the built-in effects sound good, and its modularity enables to completely transform any sound into something else. like putting drive distortion to the max, applying some lo-fi, a drastic filter with it's cutoff LFO-synched to the beat, and here you go, your original sound has disappeared...
but you can do much more subtle stuff. and the possibilities are endless (not to mention the grain synthesis that really opens to another sound world...).
i find kontakt to be the most versatile and accurate sampler, yet with a great sound. but who would be surprised knowing the designers?

Thanks Peeddrroo for that passionate post. I have not yet had the conversion experience with Kontant but will play some more with the demo. :D

Z3ta+ is pretty much the only VSTi I use these days, replaced all my previous synths easily once I got to know it better. Yeah it's not a softsampler, so for that I would probably use NN-XT.

Hey Marzio, what version of Mach 5 are you using???
It's never worked for me on this end, and the bug is allegedly still being worked on by Motu/Ableton. I use a rewire workaround to use it.

the last one I really used was NN-XT and that was a couple of years ago. I use Live for just about everything sample based with just vsti synths and vst FX even though I have NI Komplete bundle...I've barely even looked at the samplers.
