Best Tape Delay Plugin
Best Tape Delay Plugin
Hi all, years ago I had a pc with logic audio. It had the most amazing tape delay that was very reminiscent of the 70,s dub reggae sound where each delay would progressively disintegrate and very warm sounding.
I recently bought the Camel space product which is great for other things but I think the tape delay sound is not much good and far too resonant. I see Universal Audio has a Roland RE-201 Space Echo plugin. Can anyone recommend this product or other authentic sounding tape delays.

I haven't tried a ton of these, but I do like this one: Analog Delay
http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/classic ... -delay.php
Map a few MIDI controls to it & you can really play it.
For both Mac & PC.
AnalogDelay is now Donationware i.e. you are free to decide yourself how much you want to pay for it, and when. The plugin is fully working but displays a nag screen when you (re)open the GUI.

There's some olde skoole analog-stylee doings in here too.
Thanks all, looking forward to checking some of these out. I do have the fab filter timeless and although it makes some amazing sounds and has been really useful, I have not been able to get an authentic tape delay sound from it like the one I described that was contained in Logic. It sounds too clean to me and doesnt seem to have that disintegrating quality and warmth. A better sound programmer than me could probably do better but i liked the instant gratification of the logic effect and I could get on with writing and arranging the track.
Thanks again for the web addresses for these plugins

Post you findings: Let us know if any of the recommended plugs compare favorably with the Logic delay. OK?
