I own both.
ddmf is amazing for clean, surgical stuff, but NOTHING compared to the sweet colouring of a Neve 1073 or 1081.

I have 4 UAD´s and the EQ´s are just great, but the compressors is where UAD also really shines, so i suggest: GET A FUCKING UAD!!
:D

hey thanks for your reply !

when you talk about ddmf eqs do you talk about II eq or lp 10 or both ?

i would like to know how is lp10 and IIeq compared to uad's cambridge and pultec , to have a more precise point of view ? ..

thanks a lot !! :D

Both.

Well, pultec is also very colouring in a nice way. The ddmf plugin are both very clean, so they are more of a cambridge than a pultec.

I use Cambridge mainly for cutting, never for boosting (for clean boosts i take PSPNeon, for colouring the one i mentioned above)

Cambridge can do ultra steep low / high-cuts, which is very impressive.

I wouldn´t get the UAD for Cambridge, as i think there are native plugin (such as ddmf´s) which are good as well, but UAD is impressive with the Neves EQ´s and the Compressors.

Here is a nice thread from the uad forum where someone compared lots of EQ´s (ddmfs are also there), maybe you´ll have a look:

Best free compressor I can think of is Block fish. http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.p ... &subItem=5

They still talk about this plugin on Gearslutz etc. You can get to the back panel and make it act the way you want. Its totally free. The maker of these plugs went on to become the chief designer for Magix Samplitude plugins.

+1 for Blockfish (even 1176 from UAD kick it´s ass 8) )

Hm, Saturated Driver is considered to be good:

I also like his Pocket Limiter for Drumbuss to squash the drums some more

As for money: you can get Vintage Warmer second hand quiet cheap from time to time, look out on this forum:

Hm, for free EQ, this one is very good for free, but it´s handling is a pain in the ass (but please: give it a try, it´s a good EQ!)

Just off the card.

The card is an elaborate dongle, although they'll have you believe it powers the plug in's...as far as I can see, it's an old graphics card chip supposedly running plug in's...

Go figure...:)
