I love Sound Forge on the PC, but I can't find something similar on the Mac.

Any ideas?

audition
by adobe

its actually nice.
because they bought someone else's app and rebranded it.

goldedit, or cooledit or something... available on mac and pc
Audition is not available on Mac.
SoundBooth is .... but it could be too simple for the OP.

TC Electronic used to make a great editor called Spark XL. real shame they discontinued it, but you may be able to find it if you look around. never made it to intel, though - ppc only

I remember SparkXL, but you must be getting old. Then again my first Mac ran OS 6. Amazing what you can do all on a floppy.
