stripped back Ableton Live
stripped back Ableton Live
Hello dear forum
in this interview Damian Taylor, whom recorded and performs with Bjork on her lasted album and tour, talks about a "stripped back" Ableton Live software.
There are anybody around here who know what kind of tweaking could be made?
Like removing controllers scripts? Skins files? etc...
any tip would be nice.
cheers
Ricardo

Unless, he means what i was going to do - basically delete most presets from the live browser.. that should be stripped back.. Im seriously thinking about doing this, i find when writing music that having too many options is bad.. I know that sounds backwards but i keep picking up old recordings that i did on my 4 track reel to reel with just some creative use of effects and they sound great, and like me not like someone else ?
EDIT: on reading the interview - he means basically just having Ableton on his laptop and probably not mail, photoshop, limewire and other non musical software...

Hello Guys,
no doubt they are using a full version of Life.
I get in touch with Damian.
"stripped back" means no third-partie plugins.
he founds Live Load much more quickly and keeps much more reliable.
It`s nice to notice they are using Live like a "sampler", without synths and stuff...
They are using Live effects.
I thing about to take out ( as experience )a lot of remote scripts-i don`t have any of then, and some of the skins.
I don`t recommend to anyone to delete they, just move they to a folder outside the packge (I`m on mac)
when I made I let you know

Hi Lo-fi.
I`m not sure, but I do believe they are loaded when u run the software.
Why?
Because if you try to put a new skin inside the skin folder, they only show in the dropdown menu if you restart the software.
I do believe the presets aren`t load... but I also can`t be sure of that.

@capo-wear-i : you are rigth!
After reading the interview the first thing I do is to delet all the plug-ins I never use.
Then I stop to have duplicates of it like the same plug-ing AU & VST.
What I feel is some drops after upgrading from Live 7.03 to 7.07...
I`m not allways fan of those upgrades...

I`m used to Arturia Synths at all.
Sometimes some NI Pro53 ...
and a Microkorg...
and I can`t go further... I just get happy with those.
