MIDI range within Live

Didn't live used to support setting the range of a MIDI knob? For example, assigning a knob to the volume of a track, and having the full range of the knob only go down to -12db and up to 1db within live.Or do I really have to set this in MIDI translator?

you do it in live, in the browser while in midi map mode.
