Wow - what an awesome response - Cheers ! I'll have a jolly good trawl around and try and find some solutions based on this info.
If I can do some visual comparisons in the store I'll post my findings + the uk prices. Generally I think computer products are a little more expensive here than in the US... though squeezing a 24" display in my hand luggage to avoid paying duty may be a little conspicuous it may be worth a go !
Thanks again

Del, you know you need a Dell. Depending what you get, make sure that your video card will run it > I had to get a new video card to run a 30" Dell on a G5 as the G5 didn't have th enecessary Dual DVI connector. Funny thing is that now the G5 has left the building, the Macbook Pro runs the Dell even better with just the built-in port.
hi guys
Just thought I'd update you if anybody is interested. I had a good look around and eventually decided that the "HP W2408h" 24" display (with USB hub which is handy) fitted my studio/budget rather well. 24" for £290 not bad - the 30" dell would have been nice (for the name at least) though that was more like £500.
so there you go. Let's hope it works.
Cheers for the input !
